Suzanne van Soest

Suzanne van Soest

Suzanne van Soest (1983) was born in Den Haag.

She makes figurative paintings and screen- prints. During the study ‘textile and fashion’ at the Royal Academy of Art (2003-2007) Suzanne learned how to screenprint cloth. After the bachelor ‘cultural sciences’ at the University Of Amsterdam, she worked as a journalist for the Algemeen Dagblad. In 2012 Suzanne got the chance to work in an art-production company with screen printing facilities, where she was art director for two brands: ‘Studio van Soest’ en ‘Crail Moansburg’. These days she mainly works as an autonomous artist on paintings, murals, and social projects from her atelier in the lively neighborhood the ‘Stationsbuurt’ in the center of The Hague, The Netherlands. She paints big canvasses with mixed techniques like oil painting, drawing, collage, and screen-print. Her main inspiration is the chaotic and capricious ‘gestalt’ and ‘physique’ of humans amongst each other and their (dis) ability to feel connected.
