Georg Bohle Solo Exhibition - Imaginary Landscapes

IMAGINARY LANDSCAPES

Georg Bohle views the built environment as a cultural
metaphor which provides a context for his work.
By extracting textures and compositional structures
from man-made agglomerations and reinterpreting
them graphically, a growing series of imaginary
landscapes emerges.

Each drawing follows a consistent methodology:
beginning with a research period, Bohle digs into the
written and visual history of a subject and, if possible,
expands upon this research in the field. By delving into
the physical and cultural fabric of locations around the
globe, Bohle builds a visual foundation; a repertoire
of volumes, textures, objects and emblems which,
combined, give his landscapes new meaning.
