On the 13th of June we opened the Kousbroek Exhibition by Gabriel Kousbroek. The exhibition was held in the space that was newly added to Gallery Frank Taal and was renamed for the occasion in GaapTaal (GabeTaal). The reason for this exhibition was the recently published Kousboek (Kousbook) by Nigh en van Ditmar publishers.
In this exhibition Kousbroek presents a graphic history of his life based on prints of colorings and original drawings from the book together with several objects that were referred to in the book.
‘So much becomes clear from the book: it’s a collection of bizarre stories presented by texts above the pictures. Stories about losing his virginity, meeting a bounty hunter, the death of his mother and compulsory pulling his own beard are all visualized in a playful manner.’
