We look forward to seeing you next week at the 4th edition of Amsterdam Drawing Art fair. Gallery Frank Taal proudly presents the black fineliner drawings of the German artist Georg Bolhe (1977, Bochum DE), who lives and works in Rotterdam.
Imaginary landscapes
Georg Bohle sees the built environment as a cultural metaphor that offers context to his work. He collects textures and compositional structures in man-made agglomerations. Re-rendering this graphically creates a growing series of imaginary landscapes. Bohle uses the same method for each drawing. Starting with a period of research, he digs into the written and visual history of a subject and, if possible, expands this with a field study. By immersing himself in the physical and cultural fabric of locations around the world, Bohle builds a graphic encyclopedia that gives its landscapes new meanings: a repertoire of volumes, textures, objects and emblems.
From Thursday 17 to Sunday 20 September 2015, Amsterdam will experience the fourth edition of the annual art fair for gouaches, watercolors, charcoal and pen, oil paint or ink works on paper.
Amsterdam Drawing is the stage for the best galleries from all over the world to show work by young talent and internationally established artists. Fifty Dutch and international galleries have been invited to Amsterdam Drawing 2015.
As in previous years, the location is a temporary pavilion on the NDSM-Werf on the IJ in Amsterdam-Noord.
