ART ROTTERDAM 2017

Frank Taal Gallery proudly presents Bram Braam and Erik Sep at ART ROTTERDAM, booth 52 from 9-12 February 2017

Bram Braam

Visual artist Bram Braam (NL, 1980) is captivated by the makeability of our daily surroundings. Apart from his photos, collages and assemblages Bram focusses on sculptural works of a subtle or –juxtaposing– monumental scale. Many influences can be found in these works: the American minimalism of Donald Judd and Sol LeWitt, the utopian thinking of architects as Le Corbusier, yet also the modernism of Bauhaus and De Stijl. In his work the schematic clarity of the Dutch landscape meets with the raw, urban chaos of Braam’s place of residence Berlin.

Erik Sep

The last 11 years, Erik Sep has been working at his ever expanding miniature city called Neurotopia. Parallel to our world, he’s searching for an obstinate reality, propagating a meaningful meaninglessness. Chosen to approach the work as a permanent process of collecting, building, demolishing and reorganizing. Eventually the work is about this process: the ever growing city. Gradually suburban districts came into being, including their own piece of history. The process changed from building these districts piece by piece, to combining them into a larger agglomeration, using subversive city planning, including infrastructure, lighting and future building plots. The city’s identity will unfold during time. Neurotopia invites to wander through, to discover its new developments slowly, and questions its own developments at the same time.
